Our client is a specialist in the manufacture of aluminium impact extrusions and subsequent machining, finishing and printing operations. The Company makes a wide range of products for a number of markets including military and packaging industries and export over half of what they make.

Owing to continued expansion they are looking to recruit a number of Press Setters to set and oversee the running of horizontal Herlan power presses, Schuler trimmers and various other ancillary equipment. This is a good opportunity for a permanent secure position in a successful business that has been growing steadily for a number of years and now has a turnover in the region of £12 million per year.

The job:

5+ years of experience of mechanical machine setting is a must 

Full time setters are what we are looking for - not setter / operators

This is not Press Brake setting / operating - more complex

Running a section, you will be responsible for:

- Machine setting and adjustment involving frequent changeovers

- Health and Safety

- Quality of product and adherence to procedures

- Production performance and efficiencies

- Housekeeping and tool care

The person:

- Experienced machine setter preferably with power press training

- Positive “get it done” attitude

- Highly numerate

- Ability to read engineering drawings

- Ability to assist in problem solving

- Lead operators by example

They expect to have to train people as the work is quite unusual but with a good mechanical skill level to start with this is not such a long process.

There are vacancies on days and shifts. At the moment they are working 2 shifts (+ 20% = £16.36/hr) but hope to be onto 3 shifts when new recruits are trained (33% = £18.12/hr).

There also have vacancies on regular days.

Shift times are:

6am to 2pm/2pm to 10pm rotating - 2 shifts

6am to 2pm/2pm to 10pm/10pm to 6am rotating - 3 shifts

7-30 to 4-30 Mon to Thurs, 7-30 to 2 on Friday when on regular days

Holidays: 24 per year plus statutory.

Benefits (subject to acceptance / conditions from insurance company):

Death in service benefit: 2 x annual basic salary

Sickness – 75% of basic salary for 12 months

Pension - 3% employer contribution; 5% employee

Pay:       basic £13.63 per hour (days)

              £16.36 for 2 shifts 6-2/2-10 with 20% shift allowance added

              £18.12 for 3 shitfs 6-2/2-10/10-6 with 33% shift allowance added
