So as of April 1st the minimum wage has risen to £12.21 whilst as of April 5th Employers N.I. rose to 15%, not a good time for employers with costs increasing across the board, these are tough times but there is a resolution.

The increase in minimum wage is particularly significant as it could mean that all wages effectively rise as comparisons are always abound. For skilled workers there is always the ask of ‘Well if the minimum wage has gone up why shouldn't mine' which is a very fair point as the differential between skilled and unskilled workers pay has always been a talking point alongside the ‘I could earn as much at XYZ Company on a production line so why should I put in hard graft here'. It is a dilemma many employers are facing at the moment and can only lead to rising costs and potential friction.
